Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your safari.

The cost of a safari varies greatly depending on the destination, level of luxury, and time of year. However, for a truly unforgettable safari, we recommend experiencing Africa in a responsible and conservation-focused way which typically requires a minimum budget of $1000 per person, per night, covering sought-after accommodations, conservancy/park fees, driver/guides, meals, internal flights, and most activities. Our guests often seek smaller, high-end lodges and camps that offer exclusivity but come at a premium due to their operational costs. For those on a tighter budget, consider going during low season where prices are typically cheaper. Considering the long hours of travel required to reach these destinations, we believe in creating seamless, high-quality experiences that optimize both your time and worth the investment. More importantly, we want you to receive the best value for your money.

Crafting the ideal, personalized safari to Africa can take up to a year, primarily because the most sought-after accommodations and activities are often booked more than 12 months in advance. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be done sooner. The time and meticulous planning required ensure every detail is perfectly tailored to your experience.

Contrary to common misconceptions, many African countries are just as safe as other popular travel destinations worldwide. We only visit places where we feel completely secure and stay well-informed about safety conditions in all our locations. While safaris take place in the wild, where animals roam freely, our trusted partners take every precaution to ensure the safety of both our guests and the surrounding wildlife. We encourage you to explore Africa firsthand to see for yourself.

Yes, this applies if you stay at a luxury tented camp. The term "tent" typically refers to a "tented camp" or "luxury tent” and offer a unique blend of comfort without sacrificing the amenities of high-end accommodations. These tents are typically spacious, with elegant interiors that may include king-sized beds, plush linens, stylish furniture, and air conditioning or fans. Many feature en-suite bathrooms with hot showers indoor and outdoor, running water, and modern fixtures, while some even offer outdoor bathtubs or private plunge pools for added luxury. The design of these tents often reflects the surrounding environment, with natural materials like wood, canvas, and stone blending seamlessly into the landscape. These camps are usually located in remote, scenic areas, offering prime access to wildlife viewing while ensuring privacy and tranquility.
There are numerous other options available, from luxurious lodges to more adventurous experiences, such as sleeping under the stars in a dry riverbed. Whatever your preference, we can tailor the perfect experience to suit your needs.
One thing is certain, when staying in a luxury tent, you’ll love the sounds of nature surrounding you, which is a client favorite.

The food quality varies depending on where you stay, but it's generally very good, and one thing you won’t have to worry about is going hungry. Most camps accommodate a wide range of preferences, ensuring everyone is taken care of. The cuisine is a fusion of fresh, local ingredients and international flavors, served at every meal, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

The necessary vaccinations will depend on the specific countries you plan to visit in Africa. We recommend consulting a local travel clinic for personalized medical advice and vaccination requirements. Additionally, staying informed through the CDC website is essential, as guidelines and protocols may change over time.

Almost all camps and lodges will have Wi-Fi and power connection for all devices, although the level of connectivity may vary depending on the location and the specific camp. Many high-end camps offer solar-powered electricity or generator-powered systems to charge devices like phones, cameras, and laptops. Most, if not all now, also provide USB charging ports or charging stations in the tent or main lodge areas. Many now have Starlink to provide fast internet access. However, keep in mind that the internet connection may not always be as fast or reliable as what you're accustomed to at home, as many camps are located in remote areas.
One of the greatest reasons to travel to Africa is the opportunity to disconnect from the internet while on safari. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the experience, free from the distractions of daily life, and reconnect with the beauty and sound of nature.

Each trip leaves you with lifelong memories and a longing to return
